Myllyn Leipä was founded at its current location on the shore of the beautiful Lake Kyrösjärvi in 1958, exactly 100 years after the Wanha Kauppala of Ikaalinen was founded on the opposite bank.
Myllyn Leipä is a friendly family enterprise which employs approximately 20 people. This local bakery offers its customers a wide range of products from rye bread to pastries and confectionery.
The family enterprise was founded on the tradition of a brewery that used to be located on the site as well as a flour-mill. This is still adhered to and respected in this modern bakery, where a new generation of entrepreneurs continues to work with their own hands, just like their predecessors. The dough is handled gently and baked slowly, giving the aroma of the bread a chance to come through. Traditions have been preserved the best in the bakery’s rye bread production: 100% rye flour is used to bake the bread and the only seasoning used is salt. Hiivaton Revitty Ruisleipä, the yeast-free ‘ripped’ rye bread, is the absolute favourite among customers.
